ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Steven Carter and Julia Sokol have been writing together about relationship issues since 1986.  Their first book, MEN WHO CAN'T LOVE (M.Evans & Co.) -- in which they introduced the term "commitmentphobia" into the American vocabulary -- was an instant New York Times Bestseller.  Today, MEN WHO CAN'T LOVE has almost two million copies in print worldwide, and the '10 Year Anniversary' paperback edition was printed last year by Berkley Publishing.  Their new book, GETTING TO COMMITMENT (M.  Evans & Co.) is the long-awaited follow-up to this relationship classic.

Carter and Sokol are also the authors of the national bestsellers HE'S SCARED, SHE'S SCARED and WHAT SMART WOMEN KNOW, as well as the companion book to WHAT SMART WOMEN KNOW, MEN LIKE WOMEN WHO LIKE THEMSELVES.  These books are all known for their no-nonsense approach to challenging relationship issues, and for their in-depth, honest, personal interviews that shape and support the work.  You can find about more about all of these books through amazon.com.

Considered to be the leading authorities on the topic of commitment fear, Carter and Sokol appear regularly on popular national talk shows such as OPRAH, SALLY, GERALDO, and MAURY POVICH.  They have also appeared on THE TODAY SHOW, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, CBS THIS MORNING, CNN, CNBC, and MSNBC.   Carter and Sokol's work is featured regularly in magazines such as COSMOPOLITAN, GLAMOUR, NEW WOMAN and MADEMOISELLE, and they periodically lecture and run workshops throughout the country.

Julia Sokol and her husband currently live in New York City.  Steven Carter and his wife live in Los Angeles, California.
